Beirut is mostly Zach Condon from Santa Fe, NM. His music is very Eastern European/Balkan gypsy with a strong trumpet and ukulele base. Both Gulag Orkestar and Lon Gisland EP came out in 2006. He also has an album called the Flying Club Cup (2007) and two other EPs: Pompeii (2007), Elephant Gun (2007). A third (and fourth) EP has been announced as well; March of the Zapotec/Holland will be a double EP and is due out in February, 2009. Condon's music makes you feel like you're in Europe, sitting outside of a corner cafe with a cup of coffee, listening to a busker play across the street...and that's a great feeling.
